La Negrita de los Ángeles, Our Lady of the Angels, is the Patroness of Costa Rica. Her statue is in the Basilica de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles in Cartago and her feast day is celebrated on 2 August.

The second miracle that led to John Paul II being declared a saint happened to Floribeth Mora Diaz, 50 and a mother of 4 from Costa Rica. In 2011 Mora, who had an inoperable brain aneurysm, was told by doctors that her condition was hopeless. On the Feast of St Joseph the Worker, 1 May 2011, partially paralysed and on pain medication, she wanted to watch the beatification of John Paul II via television at her home in the Cartago province. After the beatification, she fell asleep and awoke a few hours later to the sound of John Paul II's voice: "Rise! Do not be afraid." Mora described: "I had a peace, a peace that assured me I was healed." Her husband was very surprised to see her up and she explained to him that she felt better. Her neurosurgeon, Alejandro Vargas Roman, commented: "What we found remarkable, unbelievable really, was that by November there was absolutely no trace in her brain that she ever had an aneurysm. I had never seen this in my career .... If I cannot explain it from a medical standpoint, something non-medical happened. I can believe it was a miracle."

Father Belisario

"What can I say about the Blessed Virgin Mary? That she's everything for me, she's everything for all of us: we are her children, she is our mother, she loves us and we remain always in her heart. We should grow in our devotional love for her and belonging to her is particularly true of consecration - she will protect us and she will guide us always to love more and more Jesus Christ her son.

¿Qué digo de la Virgen María? Que es todo. Gracias a ella he tenido toda mi conversión."

Padre Belisario Gonzales is a priest from the Missionaries of Charity Fathers.

Sylvia

"What I'd really love to share about Mary is how special she has been in my country, Costa Rica."

Totus tuus ego sum et omnia mea tua sunt.
Accipio te in mea omnia. Praebe mihi cor tuum, Maria. - St Louis de Montfort

St John Paul II took his motto Totus Tuus from this quote.

"I am totally yours and all that I have is yours.
I accept you for my all. O Mary, give me your heart.”
