1st May - Feast of Saint Joseph, the worker - Father Barry

"I’ve been a fan of Mary’s particularly since 1958, when I made my first visit to Lourdes on my way here to Rome to study at Propaganda Fide. I've been to Lourdes every year since then. I've been saying to Saint Pope John Paul II yesterday I want to take over his motto 'Totus Tuus' and make it my own. I'm very indebted to Mary, Mother, for many, many graces and blessings over the years."

Father Barry is from Surrey in England.

2nd May - Feast of St Athanasius - Sister Mary James

"For me Our Lady is really the way that points us to Christ. Our salvation is brought to us through her. And so for me she is really a symbol of humanity and how we're all called to be bearers of Christ as she was."

Sister Mary James is from Steubenville, Ohio in the United States.

Our Lady's message to Mirjana Soldo, Medjugorje, 2nd May 2014:

"Dear children, I, your mother, am with you for the sake of your well-being, for the sake of your needs and for the sake of your personal cognition. The Heavenly Father gave you the freedom to decide on your own and to become cognisant on your own. I desire to help you. I desire to be a mother to you, a teacher of the truth so that in the simplicity of an open heart, you may become cognisant of the immeasurable purity and of the light which comes from it and shatters darkness, the light which brings hope. I, my children, understand your pain and suffering. Who could understand you better than a mother? And you, my children? Small is the number of those who understand and follow me. Great is the number of those who are lost – of those who have not yet become cognisant of the truth in my Son. Therefore, my apostles, pray and act. Bring the light and do not lose hope. I am with you. In a special way I am with your shepherds. With a motherly heart I love and protect them, because they lead you to Heaven that was promised to you by my Son. Thank you."

3rd May - Feast of Saints Philip & James - Christian

"I first think I met Mary in 1997 in Lourdes … I had a very, very moving and real and living experience with the Westminster Diocesan Pilgrimage. ..And I think if anybody really wants to witness the love and the power and the spirit of Mary, there is no better place (in my view at least) than Lourdes. The magicalness of her touch is incredible. Lourdes is considered to be a place of miracles and, let me say, it's a place of hundreds of minor miracles that happen continually and consistently throughout the day. And it really needs to be experienced to be believed. So for me, Mary is obviously immaculate but just the most wonderful influence in my life."

Christian is from England.

4th May - Oliver

"For me Our Lady is a wonderful inspiration. She was very close to my mother, who was an extraordinary woman and who inspired me to keep to the faith during all those difficult years of growing up. And when my mother died, I took on Our Lady as, in a sense, my second mother and I talk to her every day, and I find her wonderfully pure and simple nature to be an inspiration."

Oliver is from England.

5th May - Rafal

"In Poland we call Mary the Queen of Poland and she is a very, very important person in history. She helped many, many times, she helps Polish people win the wars, like in 1920 it was the Miracle at the Vistula River, the most famous battle in the world because we stopped Communism, Lenin etc and the Bolsheviks. That is why Mary is a very important as an historic person … The most important thing is that our pope, John Paul II, he put lots of faith in Mary."

Rafal is from Poland.

6th May - Chika

"The Blessed Virgin Mary is a mother to me, a mother to my family. She has been a wonderful intercessor and a Mother of Perpetual Help."

Chika is from Nigeria.

7th May - Teresa

"For a long time I didn’t have much of a relationship with Mary. But after asking her that I could have a better one, she slowly started to come into my life as a real source of strength and inspiration, real feminine inspiration. And although my relationship with her isn't where I want it to be eventually, it's getting there. And it's just so wonderful to have her patiently with me, reminding me that she's there protecting me, praying for me and directing me to her son. It's the witness of a perfect woman and a beautiful mother, and I hope that I can really witness to that beauty in my own life."

Teresa is 25 & from Texas in the US.

8th May - Deirdre

"I love Our Lady, she is everything to me."

Deirdre is from Britain.

9th May - Francisco

10th May - Feast of St John of Avila - Amanda

"Mary is our Blessed Mother in heaven. We come to her in times of need so she can take our worries and our concerns to our Father in heaven."

11th May - Vocations Sunday - Janice

"Mary is the ultimate mother figure to me."

Janice is from Canada.

12th May - Feast of St Germanus of Constantinople - Father Simon

"As a Jesuit, one of the things that we do is these spiritual exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola. In their fullness they're a 30 day silent retreat, but they can also be done in our daily lives, and there's a recurring prayer in these meditations that St Ignatius invites us to make. And it's to ask Mary to place us close to her son. And I think it's the most wonderful prayer, that we ask Mary to place us closer to her son. So often I find myself asking Mary to place me close to her son, to kind of watch Jesus as she watches him, or to serve him as she serves him, to love him as she loves him."

Father Simon Bishop SJ is a member of the British Province of the Jesuits.

13th May - Feast of Our Lady of Fatima - Carla

"My devotion to Our Lady is that she is the Mother of God, she’s the Mother of Christ, and I just love the way she has nurtured and loved Christ, suffered for her son. She points to her son all the time and helps us to look for Christ in our daily life."

Carla is from London.

14th May - Verity

"Mary was the ultimate Mummy, and she still is. And I thank her yes, for bringing us proof, bringing us the resurrection, bringing us Jesus, the person, the man, the traveller, the sharer of all of our joy and sadness, and most of all for his perfection. So, I love Mary for all those reasons."

Verity is from London.

15th May - Oliver

"I associate Our Lady very much with her apparition to Saint Bernadette in Lourdes."

Oliver is from London.

16th May - Marie

"Mary is someone who's very courageous and embodies a woman who suffers silently but is very, very strong."

Marie is from Birmingham in England.

17th May - Maria Cecilia

"Our Lady was the woman who provoked Jesus’ first miracle because she was susceptible to people's needs. She was there at this big party and she knew how this could be for the family to miss the wine .. So she noticed that and she provoked a miracle, and from this example I just try to follow her sensitivity, to see what is the most needed action .. to see what people's needs are and to attend to them as much as I can."

Maria Cecilia is from Brazil & gives her response in English & Portuguese.

18th May - Feast of St Leonard Murialdo & birthday of St JPII - Gleisson

"Once I heard a priest saying that the guy that shot Pope John Paul II was a professional shooter and he could not understand how come, so close to the Pope, he could miss the fatal assassination. And then John Paul II went to Portugal, Lisbon, and put in the crown of Our Lady of Fatima the bullet that missed his fatal death, and he thanked Mary for diverting the hand of the assassin. And he just kneeled in front of her and thanked her. And I thank her for diverting from me all the atrocities of my own life."

Gleisson is from Brazil and gives his response in English & Portuguese.

“Dear children! Pray and be aware that without God you are dust. Therefore, turn your thoughts and heart to God and to prayer. Trust in His love. In God’s spirit, little children, you are all called to be witnesses. You are precious and I call you, little children, to holiness, to eternal life. Therefore, be aware that this life is passing. I love you and call you to a new life of conversion. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

“¡Queridos hijos!

30th May - Feast of Saint Joan of Arc - Jenny

"The thing that I’m pondering at the moment about Mary is how at the passion and the crucifixion of Jesus she didn’t shy away, she stayed and she was with him, even in the depth of his suffering, and all the suffering and pain that that would cause her to witness. And yet she journeyed with him through his life and through his death and then into the resurrection. For me, that's a model to follow, that I can journey with Jesus through his suffering into the resurrection and into eternal life with him."

Jenny is from England.
